Red Colored Water
Cooking Oil
Rubbing Alcohol
Glass, Jar, or Plastic Bottle
Optional: Funnel
How to do it:
1. In your bottle or other appropriate container, add these carefully in order (be sure to add them slowly by pouring them down the side of the container - you may use a funnel to help, if desired):
2. Dark Corn Syrup
3. Milk
4. Blue Dish Soap (blue is desired for color contrast)
5. Red Colored Water (just regular water with food coloring)
6. Cooking Oil
7. Rubbing Alcohol
8. Enjoy the beautiful rainbow!
9. If you have a lid, you may wish to gently shake the contents to slightly mix them and watch as they separate again over time.
Science Fair Project Ideas:
Change the ingredients and make predictions about what will sink and what will float!
Enjoy the rainbow!
