I am on a mission to make science fun for children at school and at home all over the world! My career in science began with a bachelor's degree in Cell and Structural Biology from the University of Illinois, a couple of summers and one year as a scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Lab, and 2 years at the University of California in Davis in a PhD program in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. After working and studying as a biochemist in the cancer research field for about 5 years, I realized my passion was really to teach science to children, not work with pipettes.
I left the science research field, and earned my teaching credential in the state of California. I have since LOVED every minute of making science fun and exciting for children all the way from high school down to preschool age. The children whom I teach tell me that I make science super fun - hence the name "Super Science Girl." Many children are sad to leave my classroom because they say science just isn't as fun with other teachers. I know their teachers do their best, but maybe science isn't their passion, or they just have too much required curriculum to cover. I finally realized I could solve this problem for a ton of children, by offering my fun science lessons through this website and on YouTube. Now children everywhere can join my virtual classroom and experience the excitement science has to offer. Science has been a passion of mine since I was in middle school, around 7th grade. I had an amazing teacher who sparked my interest in understanding why things were they way they were, and what caused the outcomes. Ever since then, I have been excited about science. There are so many more kids out there that I would love to share the excitement of science with! I am so excited that you can join me! Let the SUPER SCIENCE learning adventures begin.... Be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel so you can show the children in your life just how fun and exciting science can be! |
